iOS 8.1

Release on Monday 20 October 2014, iOS 8.1 is set to fix many of the issues which were found in iOS 8.0.1 and the pulled iOS 8.0.2
Plus iOS 8.1 will also finally introduce Apple Pay to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users, plus bring further Continuity support (SMS if you have OSX Yosemite) and also brings back Camera Roll for those who missed it

iOS 8.0.2 Update Issues

Situation – Apple released iOS update 8.0.2 to fix the issues that update iOS 8.0.1 was supposed to fix, before being pulled – see below. Now though, issues are being reported with the iOS 8.0.2 update – some users reporting Wifi and Bluetooth issues, plus some network connectivity issues.

iOS 8.0.1 Update Issues

Situation – Apple released iOS update 8.0.1 to fix several iOS 8 bugs – including the Health app and issues with third-party keyboards. However, this update was pulled after many users complained their iPhones stopped working as phones due to losing network connection and also TouchID stopped working.
Solution – If you’ve already updated to iOS 8.0.1 and have problems, Apple has provided the means to revert your iPhone back to iOS 8 – see http://osxdaily.com/2014/09/24/ios-8-0-1-no-service-bug-downgrade-ios-8/

iOS 8 Location Services Issue

Situation – An iOS App using Location Services, which worked fine in iOS 7 will now likely be experiencing issues in iOS 8, when trying to find the user’s current location. Also issues seen where Current Location permissions not asked for from user.

iOS 8 TestFlight App Confusion

Situation – In iOS 7, a tester will have used TestFlight to install iOS apps for testing. This actually worked through testflightapp.com. In iOS 8, Apple have released an actual TestFlight app in the App Store, but this is for a different use – to allow developers to access a large range of beta testers for their apps.
Solution – Use the old TestFlight icon (or Safari) to access testflightapp.com and all should be as normal, allowing you to install apps for testing.

iOS 8 HealthKit Apps Pulled from App Store

Situation – Apps linking into the HealthKit framework (released in iOS 8) have been pulled from the App Store
Solution – Apple are working on one.
