Here’s a selection of the Android 8 Oreo features:
- Performance improvements
- Battery usage optimisation
- Notification grouping, channels and snoozing
- New design for Settings app
- Picture-in-picture support for video
- Support for autofillers, Bluetooth 5, system-level integration with VoIP apps, Wi-fi Aware
- Android Go – an OS version for lower-end devices
Also, as I’ve found during recent testing on Android 8.0, there is no longer the option to install apps from’Unknown sources’ – instead, this has to be enabled by app developers via an “Install unknown apps” permission that a developer has to explicitly enable for an app.
