Android 6 – Android Marshmallow – is now being released to certain Android devices – mainly Nexus devices so far – and is also pre-installed on some new Android devices, such as the new Nexus 5X and 6P.
The new features in Android Marshmallow include:
- Now on Tap – which anticipates what you need at the moment you need it, via a simple tap, providing you with cards with useful info. Also known as Contextual Assistance.
- Smarter Batteries – new battery-saving features such as Doze and App Standby
- Control & Security – smarter permissions and simplified security with your fingerprint
- Android Runtime improvements – including improved app performance and lower memory overhead
- Usability improvements
- Connectivity improvements
- Easier device setup and migration
- MIDI support
- Android for Work improvements
